Where have I been?

It has been a long while since I blogged!  During this time, we have had overseas visitors, the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, 2 grandchildren birthdays on either side of travelling to Swaziland to visit son Myles and his wife Tegan, to England to visit friends and families, on to Europe for historical reflection and concerts, finishing with friends in Singapore.

Don't we have an amazing history - visited Ypres, Berlin and a number of smaller European towns - all devastated by world war, most twice in a short period of time!  How do humans do that to one another?  And we don't learn, we don't share, we don't make equitable peace.  Oh, yes, there are remarkable people during those times, but we don't get it for being kind to one another most of the time.  Or is it just governments or large groups of people?  Does democracy really make a difference?

Currently, I've just finished 5 days of wonderful grandmothering, eg taking care of the 4 grandsons in their home while their parents had a 3 day holiday and a family wedding interstate; making a birthday present of silk pajamas (from old kimono silk from Wafu Works http://wafuworks.com.au/) for their mother; getting ready to take my mother to the Tasmanian Quilters Guild Exhibition and Tasmanian Craft Show and working there for three days in Hobart.

I was interviewed in October 2012 for Moms Know Moms

See http://littlekidsgrow.com/moms-know-moms-interviews-kathy-mumford/

This was a great opportunity to reflect on being a mom and sharing what I think is important as a mom. Rereading this today after 'granny sitting' my grandsons for 5 days last week, I still agree.  Its a tough but very rewarding experience!

Thank you, Shannon.  I'll now read what you've been writing since I was travelling most of this year!
